1. Overview
Snap Count ("the app," "we," "us") is an Android application that provides college football schedules, live scores, statistics, and notification alerts. This policy applies to the app and describes our data practices in line with the Google Play Developer Program Policies, including the User Data and Families policies where applicable.
Snap Count does not require you to create an account to view schedules, scores, or stats. Any personal information described below relates only to the features listed here — notifications and optional support contact.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect the minimum information needed to run the app's features:
- Notification preferences. If you enable alerts, we store which teams and alert types (kickoff, score change, final result) you've chosen, along with a device-generated push token used to deliver those alerts to your device.
- App usage & diagnostics. We collect basic, non-identifying usage data (screens viewed, features used, app crashes) to understand how the app performs and to fix bugs.
- Device & technical data. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and general region (derived from IP address, not precise location) may be collected automatically to serve correctly formatted content and diagnose issues.
- Support communications. If you contact us for support, we collect what you provide — typically your name, email address, and the content of your message.
We do not request precise (GPS) location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or call/SMS data, and the app does not require these permissions to function.
3. App permissions
Snap Count may request the following Android permissions, each tied to a specific feature:
- Internet access — required to load schedules, live scores, and stats.
- Notifications — required only if you turn on score or game alerts; you can deny or revoke this at any time in your device settings.
- Network state — used to check connectivity so the app can show accurate offline/loading states.
4. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Deliver the schedules, scores, stats, and notifications you request.
- Maintain, secure, and improve app performance and reliability.
- Diagnose and fix crashes or bugs.
- Respond to support requests sent to us directly.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
5. Sharing & third parties
Snap Count relies on a small number of service providers to operate:
- Push notification delivery (e.g., Firebase Cloud Messaging) — used solely to deliver the alerts you opt into.
- Crash reporting & analytics (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics/Analytics) — used to identify and fix technical issues and understand feature usage in aggregate.
- Sports data providers — used to source schedule, score, and statistics content; these providers do not receive personal information about you.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments, and we only share what's needed for them to perform their function. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
If your build of the app uses a different or additional set of SDKs (for example, an ad network, a different analytics provider, or an account/login system), update this section — and your Google Play Data Safety form — so both accurately reflect what the app actually does. The two must match, or Play Console review can flag the listing.
6. Data retention & security
We retain notification preferences and device tokens for as long as they remain useful for delivering alerts, or until you disable notifications or delete the app. Diagnostic data is retained only as long as needed to identify and resolve issues, and is typically aggregated or anonymized after that. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices & rights
- Notifications. Turn alerts on or off at any time from within the app or your device's notification settings.
- Diagnostics. Depending on your device, you may be able to limit diagnostic/usage data sharing through your device's privacy settings.
- Access, correction, or deletion. You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, by contacting us using the details below. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
- Uninstalling the app removes locally stored preferences from your device; you can also request deletion of any server-side data tied to your device token.
If you're located in the European Economic Area, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, or opt out of certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Children's privacy
Snap Count is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, our practices, or legal requirements. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
